Become a Master Gardener in 2012

If you’ve always wanted to join the savvy band of Master Gardeners you see manning the plant sales, answering questions at farmers markets and presenting lectures about gardening across your county –  then this is your year! Master Gardener volunteer programs in Dutchess, Orange and Putnam counties are currently accepting applications and interviewing candidates.

The Master Gardener volunteer programs are part of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of each county. (Master Gardeners are found across the nation, as part of other extension services as well!) Applicants are trained in various horticultural practices and garden topics and are required to volunteer for the program in return. Open to residents every two years, the training programs for all mentioned counties begins in September and deadlines are soon, so don’t hesitate and get your application in today!
