Plant Swap – Haves/Wants

Hey there swappers! We’re less than one month away, and I’m getting excited to see y’all and your plants. Here’s your chance to let us know what plants you’d love to find and will be bringing to the first annual Hudson Valley Garden Calendar Plant Swap. You can share your lists in the comments section found below.

Sharing beforehand can benefit everyone. For example, I may have a big clump of ____________, that isn’t a priority for me to renovate. But if you mention you’d love to get some at the swap, it will motivate me to pot some up for you.

Don’t forget to RSVP (email me at laura.wilsongardens@gmail.com) if you haven’t already done so, and be sure to bring a friend. The more the merrier!

    Hello,

    I have:

    SEEDLINGS
dioicus aruncus (goat’s beard), buttonbush, parsley, rosemary, oregano, thyme, chamomile, lemon balm, nettles, , heirloom roma tomatoes, heirloom beefsteak tomatoes, carrots, tarragon, leeks, radishes, habaneros, highbush blueberry, raspberry, blackberry

Laura – I do have a little bit of pachysandra protuberens. I can divide it in exchange for some of the anise hyssop. Maybe we can do a parsley-for-penstemon trade, too?

    • Laura W says:

Toshi, You are way to generous to offer to share your pachysandra procumbens – thank you, but no way! That’s a special plant – in my eyes – and you should let your patch grow. I was looking for the ordinary pachysandra terminals. I have plenty of both the penstemon and the agastache, I’m sure you’ll go home with a bunch of both. If you don’t already grow pycnanthemum, you must! It’s native, great for filtered sun edge of woodland plantings and is one of my favorite perennials in the entire garden.

For everyone interested and attending, this is how we are going to select/swap plants:
      - Plants will be sorted into categories: annual, perennial, veggie, herb, tree & shrub, houseplant.
      - When we start, everyone will pick one plant. Then you will pick a second plant. We’ll proceed this way for a few rounds to ensure all gardeners get as many of their “top picks” as possible. (In my experience, each person is always excited about something different, and that is why swaps are such fun!)
      - After a few rounds of single selection, we’ll switch to free-for-all. Take what you want, and make sure everything finds a home.
